Hey Everyone!
There are a ton of educational opportunities happening around the city and the metro area in the coming months. Here are a few you could look into...
Starting Strength with Mark Rippetoe
About: A no-nonsense look at 5 major barbell lifts: Deadlift, Low Bar Squat, Barbell (overhead) Press, Bench Press, and Power Clean. I attended in the spring, and it was a fantastic course that really helped me get some of my clients using the barbell that never thought they could.
Date: 9/18-9/20
Location: Crossfit South Brooklyn
Price: $945 ($845 if you pay in full)
Note: This course has both an attendance and certification option. It's highly recommended that you only go for the certification option if you're already familiar with Starting Strength's coaching methods and have coached people with them before.
Registration: aasgaardco.com/store/september-brooklyn-ny
FMS Level 1/Level 2
About: We are all familiar with the FMS on a basic level. This program will help you to become an expert at running the FMS, interpreting the results, and putting corrections into action. Surprisingly, it doesn't come around very frequently. When it does, they tend to have the Level 1 and 2 on consecutive days.
Dates: 4/4/16 to 4/6/16
Price: $450 for Level 1 and $499 for Level 2 (or $799 for the combo of the two)
Registration: www.functionalmovement.com/events/1568/register
Precision Nutrition Level 2
About: PN Level 1 on steroids. It's a year long commitment which asks 20-30min of you daily. It involves weekly case studies, daily assignments, and quizzes to ensure that you're keeping up. However, you're being mentored by John Berardi and his staff on the very methods they use for their own clients. There is a large focus on coaching and change psychology and not just nutrition.
Dates: The next course starts on 9/16. You have to have your PN level 1 to participate.
Price: $4700 ($3500 if you pay upfront)
Notes: Spots are limited, so sign up for their VIP emails that will let you register a day early

Strong First SFG
About: Rhen and Bri just took this punishing Kettlebell Instructor course. It covers all of the major kettlebell movements: snatch, swing, clean, press, and goblet squat. There is also a heavy physical component, so you must arrive prepared to work hard.
Dates: 12/4-12/6
Price: $1195 to $1595 (gets more expensive as the event nears)
Registration: www.strongfirst.com/product/new-york-ny-december-4-6-2015/
